Bring More Magic to Kids in Hospitals

There are several ways to get involved:

Run for CharityRun for CharityRun for CharityRun for Charity

Be a Hero for Kids! Run for Charity. Take on an athletic challenge.

The funds raised by the 2016 Charity Team will help us recruit and train more Volunteer Hospital Magicians and purchase the supplies our volunteers need – including the ones left behind after teaching each young patient how to perform a trick. Your fundraising will bring magic and smiles to thousands of children and their families, right when and where they need it the most.

Because we are a small organization, your participation will have a massive impact. With the help of the Charity Team last year, we were able to reach 9,467 kids – more than ever before – including 1,168 kids placed in Isolation. Before we launched this groundbreaking program, our magicians were unable to entertain and empower these vulnerable kids due to contagious illnesses or weakened immune systems. Now, no child is forgotten.

Our runners and athletes come from all walks of life. From serious Crossfit athletes & marathoners to first time runners who want to make a difference, they all make the choice to be awesome.

When you join our team, your efforts will help kids and their families at the following hospitals:

  • Advocate Children’s Hospital – Oak Lawn
  • Advocate Children’s Hospital – Park Ridge
  • Alexian Brothers Women’s and Children’s Hospital
  • Central DuPage Hospital
  • Lurie’s Children’s Hospital
  • Northwest Community Hospital
  • NorthShore Evanston Hospital
  • Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago
  • Rush University Medical Center
  • University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital

About OHM

Open Heart Magic has pioneered an innovative way to reach children who are being treated for serious illnesses through the surprise, excitement and wonder of magic performed at their hospital bedside.

Our personalized interactions help children feel special, confident and empowered during a scary and stressful time. By inviting them to be a part of the interaction, we energize kids and help them find the strength they need to heal. Because our Bedside Magic performances are one-on-one, we’re able to work with kids of all ages regardless of physical or developmental restrictions. Our performances benefit the parents and siblings of these patients who are experiencing stress as well.

What kids go through and how Open Heart Magic helps

The funds you raise for OHM will ensure Hospital Magicians can continue reaching thousands of sick kids each year. These kids face tough situations while in the hospital, and our volunteers are specially trained to help during that critical time when they need magic most. The video will give you an inside look into what it’s like to be a sick kid in the hospital.

Donate or Sponsor a Runner

Even those not interested in running can be a superhero for kids! If you would like to donate or support one of our awesome runners and help Open Heart Magic bring magic and smiles to sick kids in hospitals across the Chicago-land area, visit the Official Team Fundraising Page of the Open Heart Magic Charity Team.
